Beginning on the Allamakee‑Clayton County line at a point approximately 400 feet east of the S ¼ Corner of Section 34‑T96N‑R3W, Allamakee County (N ¼ Corner of Section 3‑T95N‑R3W, Clayton County); thence in a northerly and northwesterly direction through Sections 34, 33, 28, 21, 16, 17, 18, and 7‑T96N‑R3W, Sections 12, 11, 2, and 3‑T96N‑R4W, Sections 34, 33, 28, 29, and 30‑T97N‑R4W and Sections 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 16, 17, 8, 7, 6, and 7‑T97N‑R5W to a point approximately ¼ mile east of the S ¼ Corner of Section 6‑T97N‑R5W (south junction Iowa 9); thence north following substantially the east quarter section line through Section 6‑T97N‑R5W and Section 31‑T98N‑R5W to the south corporation line of Waukon connecting with Rossville Road.

Waukon:

Beginning on the south corporation line connecting with Rossville Road; thence northerly and northwesterly on Rossville Road to Spring Avenue; thence north on Spring Avenue to West Main Street; thence west on West Main Street to 9th Street Northwest; thence north on 9th Street Northwest to the north corporation line.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 76 in Allamakee County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

Iowa 76 begins on the Allamakee‑Clayton County line near the SE Corner of Allamakee County and travels generally northwesterly and northerly via Waukon to the Iowa‑Minnesota border approximately 7 miles east of the NW Corner of Allamakee County, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 76 and its extension in Allamakee County as follows:

Beginning on the Allamakee‑Clayton County line at a point approximately 400 feet east of the S ¼ Corner of Section 34‑T96N‑R3W, Allamakee County (N ¼ Corner of Section 3‑T95N-R3W, Clayton County); thence in a northerly and northwesterly direction through Sections 34, 33, 28, 21, 16, 17, 18 and 7‑T96N‑R3W, Sections 12, 11, 2 and 3‑T96N‑R4W, Sections 34, 33, 28, 29 and 30‑T97N‑R4W and Sections 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 16, 17, 8, 7, 6 and 7‑T97N‑R5W to a point approximately ¼ mile east of the S ¼ Corner of Section 6‑T97N‑R5W (south junction Iowa 9); thence north following substantially the east quarter section line through Section 6‑T97N-R5W and Section 31‑T98N‑R5W to the south corporation line of the City of Waukon connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of the City of Waukon connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northerly and northwesterly direction through Section 30 T98N‑R5W; Sections 25, 24, 13, 12 and l‑T98N‑R6W; Sections 36, 35, 26, 23, 14, 13, 12, 11, 12, 1 and 2‑T99N‑R6W; Sections 35, 36, 25 and 24‑T100N‑R6W; and Sections 19, 18, 17, and 8‑T100N‑R5W to the Iowa‑Minnesota State line at a point approximately 1085 feet west of the N ¼ Corner of Section 8‑T100N‑R5W.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 76 in Allamakee County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
