New Description ‑ Iowa 26 and its extensions in Allamakee County described as follows:

 

Lansing:

 

Beginning on North 2nd Street at the Mississippi River Bridge (junction Iowa 9); thence northwesterly on North 2nd Street to the north corporation line.

 

Beginning on the north corporation line of Lansing connecting with North 2nd Street; thence in a northwesterly direction along the west side of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad and substantially parallel thereto through Sections 20, 19, 18, and 7‑T99N‑R3W, Sections 12 and 1‑T99N‑R4W, and Sections 36, 25, 26, 23, 14, 15 and 10‑T100N‑R4W to the west corporation line of New Albin connecting with Railroad Street.

 

New Albin:

 

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with Railroad Street; thence northeasterly on Railroad Street to the north corporation line (Iowa‑Minnesota State line).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Iowa 26 in Allamakee County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

Iowa 26 begins at Iowa 9 in Lansing; and travels generally northwesterly to the Iowa‑Minnesota border in New Albin, Iowa.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Iowa 26 and its extensions in Allamakee County as follows:

 

Lansing:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street at the Mississippi River Bridge (junction Iowa 9); thence northwesterly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning on the north corporation line of the City of Lansing connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northwesterly direction along the west side of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad and substantially parallel thereto through Sections 20, 19, 18 and 7‑T99N‑R3W, Sections 12 and 1‑T99N‑R4W, and Sections 36, 25, 26, 23, 14, 15 and 10‑T100N‑R4W to the west corporation line of the City of New Albin connecting with an unnamed street.

 

New Albin:

 

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northeasterly to the north corporation line (Iowa‑Minnesota state line).

 

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 26 in Allamakee County, Iowa.

 

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Beginning at station 0+00, a point 66.06 feet north of the centerline of the Mississippi River Bridge on North Second Street; thence northwesterly on North Second Street to the north corporation line.

 

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa State Highway Commission approve the revision of the Extension of Iowa 26 in Lansing, Allamakee County, Iowa.

Beginning on the north corporation line of the Town of Lansing connecting with North Second Street; thence in a northwesterly direction along the west side of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad and substantially parallel thereto through Section 29, 20, 19, 18 and 7‑T99N‑R3W, Section 12 and 1‑T99N‑R4W, and Section 36, 25, 26, 23, 14, 15 and 10‑T100N‑R4W to the west corporation line of the Town of New Albin connecting with Railroad Avenue.

 

New Albin:

 

Commencing on Railroad Avenue at the west corporation line; thence northeasterly on Railroad Avenue to the north corporation line, Iowa‑Minnesota State line, at Station 1147 + 66.6.
