DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 93-TJ-021 between Iowa Department of Transportation and Adams County transferred Unsigned Iowa 951 to Adams County on August 2, 1993.

Unsigned Iowa 951 begins at the east corporation line of Carbon and travels southeasterly and easterly to junction Iowa 148.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to delete Unsigned Iowa 951 from the Primary Road System.

Beginning on the east corporation line of Carbon, connecting with B Street; thence in a southeasterly and easterly direction through Sections 7, 18, 17, and 16‑T72N‑R34W to a point approximately ¼ mile south of the NE Corner of Section 16‑T72N‑R34W (junction Iowa 148).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑95‑0 (3) ‑‑2M‑02, between the City of Carbon and the Iowa Department of Transportation and transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑95‑0‑0 (2) -‑2M‑02, between Adams County and the Iowa Department of Transportation were given premature transfer dates transferring Iowa 95 to local jurisdiction. Commission Order PR‑81‑212 was approved deleting the description of Iowa 95 from the primary highway system on September 30, 1980.

Since Adams County has refused to accept jurisdiction of their portion of Iowa 95, this road section should be included in the primary road system as Unsigned Iowa 951.

Unsigned Iowa 951 begins on the east corporation line of the City of Carbon and travels easterly to a junction with Iowa 148 approximately four miles north of the City of Corning.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that Unsigned Iowa 951 Adams County (see attached description) be included in the primary road system.

Locate Unsigned Iowa 951 in Adams County as follows:

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Carbon, connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a southeasterly and easterly direction through Sections 7, 18, 17 and 16‑T72N‑R34W to a point approximately ¼ mile south of the NE Corner of Section 16‑T72N‑R34W (junction Iowa 148).
