DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 186 begins at a junction with US 34 Approximately seven miles east of the City of Corning and proceeds northerly to the City of Prescott.

The State Functional Classification Review Board hearing of June 16, 1980 between Adams County (complainant) and the Iowa Department of Transportation (defendant), transferred that portion of Iowa 186 from a junction with US 34 near the W ¼ Corner Section 1‑T71N‑R33W northerly to the south corporation line of the City of Prescott to County jurisdiction on

October 27, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑186‑0 (2)‑‑2M‑02, between the City of Prescott and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 186 from the south corporation line of Prescott northwesterly and westerly to Third Street to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 186 in Adams County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 186 and its extension in Adams County as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 400 feet west of the E ¼ Corner of Section 2‑T71N‑R33W; thence curving northeasterly through Section 1‑T71N‑R33W; thence northerly following substantially the section line through Sections 36 and 25‑T72N‑R33W; thence northwesterly to the south corporation of the City of Prescott, through Section 23‑T72N‑R33W connecting with an unnamed street.

Prescott:

Beginning at the south corporation line on an unnamed street; thence northwesterly, northerly to the intersection with Third Street.

Due to the review of our Primary Road System Records, Primary Iowa 186 in Adams County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 186 in Adams County and its extension as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 400 feet west of the E ¼ Corner of Section 2‑T71N‑R33W; thence curving northeasterly through Section 1‑T71N‑R33W; thence northerly following substantially the section line through Sections 36 and 25‑T72N‑R33W; thence northwesterly to the south corporation of the City of Prescott, through Section 23‑T72N‑R33W connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning at the south corporation line on an unnamed street; thence northwesterly, northerly to the intersection with Third Street.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 186 in Adams County, Iowa.
